Project Description & Criteria
•Choose one of the given options of periods. Once you decide on one period you will research the historical costumes in that period. For this project you will not be requested to know historical details, but you should know the period you derive the design ideas from.
1.The Roman Empire ( 1st – 2nd century, You know the movie “Gladiator”)
2.Medieval Europe (9th -- 12th century, Knight?)
3.Renaissance Europe (15th – 17th century, Queen Elizabeth?)
4.Baroque and Rococo (17th – 18th century, too dramatic?)
5.Victorian Era (19th century, Romanticism)
•Once you choose a period for your research, then choose your figure template, man or woman? The templates are provided to you so that you can focus on creating styles. •Before you start working, please read the rubric for this topic 1 carefully.
•When you research costumes, please look closely at the details on garments.
•As a tip for search, you can search the Web for: “historical costumes.” What other key words would be good?
•Gather all your searched visual resources and place them on a document and describe why you chose the styles, which details you found, and how you would apply the past styles to your character design. Just write that briefly, about 5 to 7 lines.
•Submit and post your assignment in PDF format into the external Wiki site linked at the Submission page (also, please see above, the menu bar to find it). And, please give comments and critique actively to your peers (your content of critique will not be graded).
